Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network- Ground Keeper 1896 (Waco, TX)

This position will perform moderately complex grounds and building maintenance work. Work will involve caring for and maintaining the appearance of Center facility grounds and maintaining and repairing grounds keeping tools, supplies and equipment. The person hired in into this position will work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.

Mows and trims grass at Center business and residential facilities throughout six counties in all types of weather conditions.
Fertilize, water, trims, removes plants and shrubs as needed at the facilities
Operates powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters and pruning shears
Services, repairs and conducts preventatives maintenance on parking lots, roads and sidewalks
Drivers trucks and pull trailers with grounds keeping equipment, supplies and materials, dirt, etc.
Mixes sprays or spreads fertilizers, herbicides or insecticides onto grass, shrubs and trees using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders
Assist in the upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters or other grounds features
Performs landscaping work

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the planting and care of trees, shrubbery, flowers and grass; of pesticides and fertilizers and hand power tools and equipment
Skill in the use of ground keeping hand tools and equipment
Ability to maintain and care for hand and power tools
Ability to drive large trucks and pull trailers, load and unload large commercial mowers , trimmers, etc.
Ability to work in all types of weather year round
Knowledge of building maintenance and repair
Skill in the use of tools and equipment.
Ability to maintain and care for hand and power tools
Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions
Ability to work in all types of weather year round
Ability to be CPR and PMAB certified
Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required. 100% local travel.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED
1 year experience in maintenance/ Grounds Keeping Preferred

Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM Mon-Fri

Salary: $12.00 hourly/$24,960 annually
