Position: Vice President of Development and Community Relations

Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer

Status: Salary, Full Time, some evenings and weekends required

Position description: This position will oversee fundraising and community relations initiatives for the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. This will include developing and implementing a comprehensive and integrated plan to increase giving revenue through donor cultivation, grants, events, direct mail, community relations, and other fundraising and marketing activities.

Essential responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of current donors and develop prospects for cultivation with the goal of attaining a specified individual annual fundraising goal.
  • Work with the Grants Manager, ensure timely submission of grants and reporting.
  • Responsible for maintaining positive, professional, and high-quality relationships with external contacts, especially individual donors, corporations, foundations and community groups, as well as foundation and grant requests, needed reporting, and planned giving.
  • Supervise the development of at least two major fundraising events a year.
  • Lead a team to develop, manage and evaluate all phases of internal and external fundraising programs including annual giving, donor solicitations, special events, capital campaigns, foundation/grant requests, and planned giving, and major gifts.
  • Research, expand and diversify revenue sources and donor base including individuals, corporations, foundations, businesses, religious organizations, and government grants.
  • Advocate for the mission of the Food Bank.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team on public relations and communications strategies and initiatives to provide effective messaging and branding for the Food Bank in print, electronic and social media.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the Food Bank and lead efforts to engage the public on the issues of hunger and food insecurity.
  • Collaborate with Leadership Team in creation and monitoring of annual departmental goals and budget.
  • Develop ways to support Food Bank partner programs through education in the areas of marketing and fundraising.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Administrative Officer

  • Bachelor’s degree and three or more years of nonprofit/fundraising experience
  • Certified Fundraising Executives (CFRE) preferred. 
  • Knowledge of and connections to the philanthropic community
  • Proven ability to supervise subordinates and build a strong, collaborative team
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding and appreciation of donor stewardship
  • PR and marketing experience
  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize
  • Desire to work with individuals and develop their interests in the Food Bank
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, databases and some desktop publishing. Raisers Edge experience a plus.

  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license and use of personal vehicle
  • Must be able to perform the position duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
  •  Must be in good physical health with ability to perform moderate lifting (20 pounds).
