JOB TITLE: DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

REPORTS TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Director for Food on the Move is responsible for all development initiatives for the organization. Responsibilities include planning and implementing tactics for managing donor relations, grant writing and reporting, special events, and donor tracking and acknowledgments. The ideal candidate will have five years’ experience in fundraising, is skilled in cultivating relationships and has a passion for serving the community.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • In conjunction with the CEO and the Development Chair of the Board, create an annual development plan and strategy, including the support of Capital Campaign efforts.
  • Cultivate existing donors and funding sources while identifying and cultivating prospective donors, including meetings, tours and other stewardship activities.
  • Research new funding possibilities from corporations, foundations, government, and individuals.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals and applications to foundations, corporations and civic organizations.  Manage the grants calendar to ensure timely submissions and funder reports.
  • Maintain and manage donor database, including gift processing, acknowledgements, and reporting.
  • Manage all aspects of special event planning and execution including sponsorships, timeline, budget, and volunteers.
  • Assist with the development of fundraising materials including the annual report, appeals, presentations, e-newsletter, and other development collateral.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A passion for serving the community.
  • Bachelor’s degree with five years of experience in fundraising, special events, and grant writing.
  • Skilled in networking and building connections to benefit FOTM.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task to meet deadlines, self-starter and team player.
  • Familiarity and understanding of non-profit organizations’ perspectives in fiscal development.
  • Humility, sense of humor, and desire to learn, excel, and make a difference.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:  strong organizational skills, leadership and motivational skills, strong oral and written communication skills, sales skills, strong people skills, public speaking skills, strong computer skills.

ABOUT FOOD ON THE MOVE:
Founded by local Tulsa artist Taylor Hanson of the band Hanson, Food On The Move is an innovative mobile food initiative that has been working to end food deserts since 2014 through mobile food events and a long-term strategy to foster the return of permanent grocery stores and healthy food systems. The monthly program events bring together a diverse group of mobile partners in non-profit, for-profit, and government to host ongoing pay-as-you-can events that offer fresh produce, prepared meals, and access to community and health resources.
