This position provides support to ASCD’s projects and programs, allowing them to develop, launch, and run successfully and effectively. You will work with colleagues across the organization and our network to scope, plan, and execute projects. This position has the responsibility for the day-to-day management of a number of projects from our Digital Learning Products and Professional Learning Services departments. 

PAYS UP TO $95,855, depending upon experience and skills.

  • Leads the timely delivery of all projects and ensure all are in scope, on schedule, in the budget, with quality, and achieving the project objectives 

  • Working with Professional Learning Services, Digital, Partnerships (sales), and Engagement (marketing) teams to ensure alignment and dependent task management 

  • Work with colleagues to scope out new potential projects or scaling/developing of existing projects 

  • Work with colleagues to ensure projects are contributing to the wider mission of ASCD 

  • Work alongside the Project Management Office to share learning on the most effective ways to manage and deliver projects 

  • Elicits requirements using interviews, requirements workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, wireframes, and workflow analysis 

  • Leads stakeholder analysis to identify key stakeholders, their goals and objectives, and expectations for projects 

  • Communicates scope, business goals, and objectives, project success metrics to the project team 

  • Creates project schedules, using provided project management tools (including SmartSheet) that include project tasks, milestones, dependencies, constraints, and resources 

  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables 

  • Prepares timely and accurate status reporting for executive leadership, project sponsors, and stakeholders.  

  • Develop project tracking documentation and ensure it is kept up to date  

  • Ongoing project evaluation, ensuring our work is impactful 

  • Assist with the management of live event staffing, scheduling, and management 

  • Support event delivery of major national events (e.g. webinars, conferences) where appropriate 

  • Provides clear direction to the team members on their tasks and on how to meet project goals and objectives. 

  • Promotes the flow of information among all participants and work independently with the project team, SME’s (subject matter experts), and stakeholders to solve issues 

  • Manages the project to the approved budget and monitor change requests for impacts to the budget.

  • Previous experience as a cross-organizational project manager  

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or a related field 

  • 5-8 years of project management and related experience 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred 

  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively 

  • Passionate about improving education for all students and educators 

  • PMP certification is a plus.  

  • Proficient in industry best practice systems development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies, e.g. waterfall, Agile, Scrum, etc.. 

Experience Requirements 

  • Four or more years’ experience with increasing responsibility in project management. 

Education Requirements 

• A four-year college degree in a related field of study is preferred. 

Work Environment 

  • Normal demands are associated with a deadline-driven office environment. 

  • Daily contact with external customers, vendors, colleagues, associates, supervisors, and staff at all levels of the organization. 

  • As a remote position, this role will require minimum background noise and the ability to use video conferencing software throughout normal work hours.

  • Ability to communicate and exchange information with others. 

  • Ability to move about to coordinate work in areas of varying heights.
