Education: BA/BS; bachelor's degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical or industrial/systems desired) in designated area of specialization or related discipline from an accredited college/university.
Months/Years of Experience: Three (3) years of experience performing engineering duties in designing, constructing, and testing aircraft, missiles, and spacecraft; and conducting basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials and equipment to aircraft design and manufacture; or a Master's degree in Engineering in the appropriate area of specialization or related discipline from an accredited college/university and one (1) year of applicable experience; or a PhD in Engineering in the appropriate area of specialization or related discipline from an accredited college/university.
Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain an FAA Class III medical certificate. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Desired Qualifications: Intermediate competency with MS Office, programming, Matlab, and technical writing desired.
Duties:
• Conduct developmental flight test for Utility/Assault helicopter platforms.
• Perform flight test engineer duties as crewmember on flight test aircraft.
• Monitor in-flight test activities, via real-time telemetry systems or as an aircraft crewmember.
• Work as part of a diverse team of contractor, military, and civilian experimental test pilots and engineers.
• Prepare pre-test documentation (test plans, test readiness reviews, safety reviews).
• Provide technical expertise with regard to the method of test that will best achieve the test objectives.
• Perform in-depth engineering data reduction and analysis.
• Write comprehensive test reports to provide usable, accurate, and readily-interpretable results.
• Prepare/deliver presentations to colleagues, subordinates, and government representatives.
