NATURE OF WORK
Performs responsible skilled electronic and electrical work in the installation, maintenance and
repair of various types of electronic transmitters, receivers, recorders, motors and electrical distribution
components. Work is performed under the supervision of the Water/Wastewater Plant Maintenance
Supervisor.

EXAMPLES OF WORK
Designs systems, installs, calibrates, repairs and maintains industrial quality control
instrumentation, electrical distribution systems and motor controls, and communication systems.
Coordinates repairs with maintenance and operational personnel and also keeps them abreast of
new applicable technology.
Requisitions electronic equipment and materials and maintains inventory. Conducts monthly
inspections of emergency air packs.
Establishes and maintains maintenance records, systems, service information files, and prepares
weekly maintenance reports.
Uses special equipment to test electronic equipment for accurate registration.
Performs related work as required.

MININUM QUALIFICATIONS OF WORK
Graduation from high school (or the equivalent), and a minimum of two years of college courses
in electronics, supplemented with at least two years of practical experience in precision instrument
operation, calibration, and repair; or any combination of education and experience which provides the
following skills, knowledge, and abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical components and precision instrumentation.
Comprehensive knowledge of the use of test equipment with an understanding of schematic and
mechanical drawings. Thorough knowledge of the design, principles, and specific mechanisms of various
types of electronic equipment. Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, tools, and equipment used
in the maintenance, repair, and testing of electronic equipment.
Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment appropriate to the work.
Ability to plan, layout, assign, and supervise skilled tasks for other employees.
Familiarity with safety-related practices, equipment, regulations and references.

up to 100 pounds. Physical ability and agility to handle and use a 35 to 50 pound self-contained breathing
apparatus and chlorine container repair kit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,
distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather
conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts or in high, precarious places

caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
