The Engineering Manager leads a team responsible for providing a smooth transition of new products from design to production readiness. This position is responsible for the development of new and transferred products, which encompasses; project estimation, tooling acquisition, dissection and application of quality requirements, construction of manufacturing plans & process routings and defining the necessary inspection processes. 

  • Develop an Engineering team that creates products and/or designs cost effective manufacturing processes to maintain pace of growth in the market and support the growth rate of the company.
  • Direct and coordinate the New Product Development Engineering team or the Production Engineering team to design cost-effective manufacturing processes both dimensionally and metallurgically using tools and concepts that test the strength of process robustness and meet customer design requirements.
  • Lead team in problem-solving strategies.
  • Drive development of new processes and technology to improve operational through-put.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers providing updates to progress against key milestones.
  • Manage scrap reduction in the Production operation.

  • Lead team to develop cost effective tooling, dimensional and other processes required to produce and control the metallurgical and NDT integrity of product assuring it satisfies customer requirements using tools that test the strength and capabilities of the process both metallurgically and dimensionally.
  • Lead team and manage projects using process and templates to qualify parts that are manufacture friendly and meet process expectations relative to cost within original committed time frames.
  • Lead team to develop and maintain overall operational sequences for part manufacture in conjunction with Administrative, Manufacturing, Dimensional, Quality, and NDT disciplines.
  • Mentor and develop staff.
  • Create and manage project timelines to bring products to market in an expeditious fashion providing regular status updates to plant leadership.
  • Provide technical support to Sales during part quotations and the review of drawings and specifications. Provide customer with input relative to design and part specification criteria, lead times, and producibility improvements.
  • Develop quotes for tooling customers as required by Inside Sales
  • Develop and manage BOMs and assure accurate standard costs.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with multidiscipline teams.
  • Keep milestone updates and obtain agreement from internal and external customers.
  • Develop monthly reports on part status and milestone progress to management team and senior staff.
  • Work across multiple departments and with multiple disciplines during the development process.
  • Conduct effective customer and supplier communication dealing on metallurgical and other issues related to the product and process. Support customer needs with respect to overall product quality, cost reductions and general good will.
  • Oversee the troubleshooting in production processes related to Engineering.
  • Communicate with tooling vendors to design concepts for wax pattern die rework, the build of gate dies and support fixtures.
  • Oversee the construction of all dies (shrink factor analysis), gages, and support tooling needed to produce and inspect cores, wax patterns, and castings.
  • Oversee the creation of work instructions for all production processes.
  • Oversee the documentation of work procedures and processes.
  • Work with shop floor personnel to provide understanding of work instructions.
  • Enforce safety standards.
  • Routinely audit production lots for adherence to established techniques and to ensure the repeatability of the results.
  • Research new manufacturing techniques and processes focused on reducing costs and improving quality. Prepare technical notes and reports dealing with proposed process improvements.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement new process technologies that advance manufacturing and product capabilities.
  • Identify and address process yields using various data analysis techniques (statistical, mathematical, DOE, 6 Sigma, etc.) to uncover variables in the process that are not maintained in a controlled fashion.
  • Compile and monitor scrap statistics on a daily/monthly/annual basis to meet facility targets.
  • Identify gage R&R, SPC, non-straightening processes and other cost reduction initiatives
  • Improve labor utilization and reduce cost of components.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and communicate in a professional manner.
  • Travel to customers and different manufacturing sites during the development process as needed.

  • Meet development commitments with respect to established cost and time frames.
  • Create, maintain and update milestones
  • Maintain scrap level at or below industry standards.
  • Develop efficient processes that meet quoted cost targets and quality requirements.
  • Actual cost vs. quoted costs within 5%.
  • Develop new technologies through Engineering and technical resources to maintain competitive products for the market.

�-� Education: BS in Manufacturing, Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.  Other engineering disciplines may be
     considered based on previous work experience.
�-�   Experience: 7-10 years of applicable experience (investment casting, tooling design, and CAD [preferably NX] experience).
     Proven success in process improvements using mathematical and statistical problem-solving techniques to identify process              
     Variations in manufacturing processes with many contributing variables, increasing levels of responsibility.
