Consolidated Precision Products (CPP) is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector to join our team. This is a 1st shift position at our plant in Bloomington, MN. The Senior Quality Inspector dimensionally inspects all standard and complex in process and final castings.  Focusing on weld repair areas, using multiple measurement tools. Following regulatory, customer, and blueprint specifications, verifying compliance of key characteristics on castings, and operating all required inspection equipment.

Major Responsibilities
 
  • Organize all equipment, materials, fixtures, measuring devices, etc. necessary to complete assigned job and check all documentation (blueprints, travelers, customer records, engineering change requests, special instructions, etc.)
 
  • Analyze castings of all complexities to determine the process for cleaning welded areas back to blueprint dimensions.  This includes evaluating accuracy of tooling points, the cutting planes and angles for saw operations and providing specific directions or assistance to weld and weld clean associates assigned to bring castings surfaces into conformance.
 
  • Perform casting dimensional inspections by using scriber to scribe lines on castings and verifies feature positions and shapes using precision measuring equipment to determine if existing dimensions meet blueprint specifications
 
  • Write and update work instructions to support production inspection requirements
 
  • Ability to use benching, blending hand tools daily
 
  • Perform casting dimensional inspections by using pin gauges, calipers, micrometers on daily basis
 
  • Ability to conduct and train to utilize target fixtures, CMM, Portable CMM, Laser Scanner and White Light equipment utilizing Digital Analysis Software and manual measurement tools
 
  • Provide through feedback to manufacturing and engineering, on special interest findings through written and verbal instruction
 
  • Complete dimensional discrepancy reports, engineering lists, customer forms, etc. and reviews with Engineers, Department Supervisors or Pattern Making personnel
 
  • Host or co-host customer representatives from Quality Engineering and /or Purchasing in detailed review of dimensional inspection reports


Qualifications
 
  • Vocational, Technical school, Associate’s degree in areas such as CMM, drafting, pattern making, die making, etc. or related experience with additional emphasis on inspection preferred
 
  • 1 year previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
 
  • Experience in process and final visual inspection position, CMM, Portable CMM, CT Scanning, Laser Scanning Polyworks or Geomagic software preferred
