The Area Manager develops departmental plans, objectives and budgets consistent for the Coremake, Rework and Assembly departments with the division and manufacturing operations policies, plans and objectives.  Coordinates the activities of Department Supervisors to assure the accomplishment of the production objectives to produce high quality casting in accordance with customer specifications and production schedules.

  • Directs all operations in Coremake, Rework and Assembly Departments and provides leadership & support to the Supervisors of those departments
  • Establishes departmental objectives, policies, plans and procedures, and interprets those policies to the Supervisors
  • Reviews and approves individual budgets of each Coremake and Assembly Supervisor and participates in preparation of overall Coremake and Assembly Department budgets
  • Reviews upcoming production schedule to establish labor and equipment needs and sets work priorities to meet production schedule
  • Consults with other Department Managers on production or scheduling problems resulting in delays in the flow of castings and resolves conflicting schedule and priorities
  • Reviews and approves individual budgets of each Coremake, Rework and Assembly Supervisor, and participates in preparation of overall department budgets
  • Attends production meetings to present and discuss production and scheduling problems
  • Conducts regular meetings with the department Supervisors to set work priorities and disseminate information
  • Monitors and promotes attainment of established production standards
  • Reviews current equipment performance.  Locates, prices and recommends purchase of replacement equipment when necessary
  • Conducts performance reviews and participates in the establishment of wage and salary levels for Coremake and Assembly Department personnel
  • Stays abreast of the latest technological advancements in area or expertise and keeps production techniques on the frontier of those advancements
  • Reviews & attempts to assist with technical issues that cannot be resolved at the Supervisor level
  • Acquire additional certifications and credentials as required for work or career development
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Comply with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures
  • Work on/participate in special projects as needed or assigned by Management
