Quality Control Lab Technician

The Quality Control (QC) Lab Technician performs chemistry analysis, raw material validation, viscosity testing, and creates lab reports in support of  the Pacific Cast Products  titanium investment casting operation in Albany, Oregon.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Follows written procedures to perform chemical and physical analysis of incoming raw materials, in-process substances, and test specimens
  • Analyzes viscosity, surface tension, pH, composition, concentration, tensile strength and other parameters
  • Performs incoming QC inspection on internal and purchased materials by reviewing purchasing specification and analysis certificates
  • Gathers samples from various sampling points on a routine schedule and report results in timely fashion
  • Analyzes micrograph samples
  • Reviews and certifies results to applicable standards, procedures and specifications
  • Performs data entry, and generates reports
  • Identifies unusual results and communicates to leadership
  • Reports to laboratory supervisor or designee
  • Supports other QC functions as needed
  • Follows all lab procedures and company policies
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Flexibility with work content and demands while staying focused
  • Strong attention to detail and a drive for quality with a desire to win
  • Possess organizational skills, and the ability to carry out tasks by priority with minimal supervision
  • Proficient with data entry, MS office tools, Outlook, Excel, and Access
  • Motivation to be a self-starter
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of experience in chemical laboratory environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Completion of college-level Algebra is required (Math skills test or transcripts may be required)
  • Associates Degree or equivalent certification in chemistry or related field from accredited college or university is preferred.  However, demonstrable, relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree or certificate
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must participate, and pass, a pre-employment background verification
  • Must participate, and pass, a pre-employment drug screening

Working Conditions:
  • Climate controlled lab may be noisy at times. Hearing protection required for some operations.
  • Job may require standing for long periods of time.
  • Scheduled hours may fluctuate depending upon workload and production requirements.
  • Overtime is required as needed. Weekend shifts as needed.
