JOB DESCRIPTION: Lead Process Engineer

This position is focused on the process control and operations readiness of our pilot scale manufacturing facility in Burlington, MA and thereafter leadership and technology transfer to a scaled greenfield manufacturing facility. This position is integral to support operations, process, and system control and scale.  This position requires a strong working knowledge of upstream and downstream manufacturing equipment, process and operation with strong investigational and root cause skills. Responsibilities will also include periodic review of manufacturing personnel compliance AS9100 / AS13100, and Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.  Specific job-related tasks include:

Responsibilities
  • Define, measure, evaluate & control KPVs to ensure developed processes meet technical and commercial requirements and report status to leadership
  • Work with cross functional engineering team to scope and execute in process development, control and scrap reduction projects
  • Coordinate and technically lead cross-functional project teams to achieve process capability and complete scrap reduction projects on time and in budget
  • Work with engineering manager to set process capability targets
  • Assist engineering team in obtaining customer approvals, as required, to qualify as a source for production of specific products.
  • Interface with customer technical personnel in the definition of the most producible and cost-effective component to accomplish customer requirements.
  • Independently plan, propose, conduct and manage projects for new processes with new or improved products.
  • Work with product engineers to ensure design for manufacturability focused on efficiency, capability, and cost
  • Work with cross-functional engineering teams to represent process engineering for the design and implementation of equipment modifications, assemblies, in-process measurements, automated processes, etc.
  • Support production personnel on training, troubleshooting processes, developing maintenance plans, operating instructions and other associated documentation for successful operation
  • Support production & operations via emergency troubleshooting, working round the clock as needed to mitigate interruption of production.
  • Educate, train, and supervise new employees on manufacturing and lean processes
  • Perform all other duties as per the company's needs and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS or MS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering or related and 5-8+ relevant years’ experience in manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years’ in Six Sigma, Lean and Theory of Constraint application in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to communicate and present to all levels of business
  • Broad understanding of processes, systems and technical aspects of scaled manufacturing
  • 2+ years technical leadership with other engineers and demonstration of achievement of quantifiable process improvements
  • 2+ years’ experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years experience controlling processes via statistical process control, with expert level navigation of Minitab or  JMP softwares.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • MS in Engineering
  • 3-5 years’ experience in project management and execution of capital projects in an industrial environment.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing additive manufacturing or ceramic processes.
  • Expert level navigation of JMP software
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Builder mentality that seeks to produce innovation, agility, and velocity to support business-as-usual operations and new project implementation.
