Non-Destructive Testing Apprentice - 3rd Shift

This position is in charge of operating the Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Scan Box, and Tilt and Swivel. Another route that the NDT Apprentice can take is learning the Ultrasonic Wall. Use metrology tools to ensure an accurate casting measurement inspection for internal and external customers.

This position would train Monday - Friday from 6am - 2:30pm with overtime as needed. Upon completion of training the chosen candidate will move to 3rd shift working 10pm - 6:30am and receive a $1/hour shift differential.

  • Read, understand, and comprehend documents such operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and Product Engineering Instructions (PEIs)
  • Load up and execute proper CMM programs for respective parts and products.
  • Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot programs for the coordinate measuring machine (CMM). 
  • Perform dimensional ship audits and production inspections.
  • Interact with Team Leaders, Engineers, and Manufacturing Managers regarding measurement inspection matters.
  • Complete and document preventative maintenance on measurement machines and tools.
  • Utilize Oracle database management system to track product throughout operation (Oracle move).
  • Comply with and support AS9100 and Nadcap certification standards as well as customer specific standards.
  • Assist CMM programmers, when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area / daily housekeeping.
  • Serve as active participant in Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Adhere to and enforce proper safety/security procedures and protocol.
  • Clean CMM machines daily.
  • Fill out daily goal sheets / production logs.

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Certifications/Licenses: None
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: General knowledge of the casting process. Basic knowledge and use of computer/measurement inspection software including DIGIGRAPH, Dimensional Measuring Interface Standards (DMIS). Knowledge of measurement tools and machines, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance. . Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Oracle. Good math skills. The ability to understand technical blueprints/geometric tolerance nomenclature. Basic analytical skills.  Good problem-solving skills.  Good interpersonal skills. Ability to read and legibly write numbers and letters. Detail oriented. Thorough. Accurate. Team oriented.
