CAD/Tooling Manager

Primary Purpose:
Lead and motivate a team of CAD engineers and technicians responsible for all aspects of tooling and CAD support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervises the work of a staff of engineers and technicians; estimates manpower needs; schedules and assigns work to meet completion dates. Provides career growth mentoring to team members.
Maintain traceability for all tooling.
Prioritizes CAD/tooling team workload.
Maintain tooling list for internal and customer audits.
Work with tooling vendors for RFQs and any tooling related issues or questions.
Work with operations to ensure tooling is in place to meet needs for manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing on new tool designs to achieve best design practices for user interface and cost to manufacture.
CAD work as needed.
Provide direction/support for tooling audits.
Provide direction/support for off-site tooling organization.
Technical support for fixture design, tool rework, new tools for tooling team/engineering/operations.
Lead in-house fixture/tool reworks.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Self-motivated individual.
Ability to read blueprints and interpret customer specifications.
Able to use Microsoft programs, i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, etc.; CAD experience helpful.
Possess a positive attitude and attention to detail.
Able to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
HS diploma or equivalent GED required, but candidates not meeting this requirement who possesses relevant experience will be considered.
Solid job history including more than 1 year at previous or recent employer.
Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background check.
Must be willing to participate in pre-employment and periodic drug screening.

Preferred:

2 recent years of CAD/Tooling experience working on aerospace castings as well as on-the-job experience CAD technician.
Good communication skills.

Working Conditions:

Frequently working near moving mechanical parts.
Exposure to dust dirt fumes, noise and chemicals. The work is typically performed under reasonably good working conditions; while exposure to any or all of the mentioned elements may occur, such exposure is generally not present to the extent of being disagreeable.

Schedule:

Individual will start on training schedule as follows: Monday-Friday 7 am-3:30 pm.
Once training is completed, individual will work DAY shift Monday-Friday.
Overtime is required as needed, may include weekends.
