Instructional Assistants Positions 2023-2024 School Year
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School is in need of Instructional Assistants for the 2023-2024 school year. Positions are approximately 29 hours per week M-F based on the teacher’s schedule. Applicants should be willing to assist students in instruction, faith formation, and help with other roles such as recess and lunch duty. A background or experience in education or childcare is preferred, but not necessary.

Part- Time Position: pay rate is $14.50 per hour.

Daily hours within the school day are determined between administration, classroom teacher and instructional assistant. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Qualifications: Previous experience as an instructional assistant desirable. The ideal candidate should:

Primary Function/Job Summary:
The Instructional Assistant provides instructional support services under the direct supervision of a highly qualified classroom teacher. Daily duties/responsibilities are assigned by the classroom teacher and/or at times administration. They will include but are not limited to the following:
• Maintaining the confidentiality of all students/staff in the school
• Always maintains positive communications about Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School
• Establishes and maintains a professional, cooperative, supportive, and effective relationship with the classroom teacher and administration in all aspects and decision making
• Monitor students during teacher directed whole class instruction
• Monitor and support students during independent work or cooperative learning activities
• Provide small group instruction
• Provide one-on-one instruction
• Reading tests to students; reading aloud to students
• Proctoring classroom make-up tests
• Support re-teaching and pre-teaching concepts
• Assist students with re-doing work
• In certain situations, collaborates effectively with grade level resource teacher to support individual learning needs of students
• Support students in special area classes as needed and directed by classroom teacher
• Assist teacher in organizing and preparing instructional materials
• Helps with daily routine
• Assists teacher in maintaining a safe physical environment
• Immediately reports witnessed accidents to teacher and/or administration
• Assists teacher with ill and/or injured students, directs to school nurse as needed
• Monitor students on the playground & lunchroom as scheduled
• Monitor students in a variety of settings such as hallways, Mass, assemblies, emergency drills, etc
• Assists in implementing a student plan designed by the teacher (academic or behavioral)
• Attends meetings and in-services as required by Administration
• Substitute teacher (for those with substitute teacher license when last minute help/emergencies occur)
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or administration

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to read written material both up close and at a distance, speak, listen, write, and type
• Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• May be required to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach
• Interactions with aggressive, disruptive, and/or unruly individuals
• Lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies/equipment
• Periodically may travel to meetings and work assignments
