SPECIAL EDUCATION RESOURCE SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose: The Resource Specialist, having both content and instructional expertise, will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and teacher practice. The Resource Specialist will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding about researched-base effective instruction for teachers. In order to meet this purpose, the Resource Specialist will provide personalized, 1:1 support based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers and students.

  2. Willing to consistently collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure the correct implementation of Indiana Academic Standards and the Diocesan Curriculum.
  3. Possess the ability to plan differentiated lessons to assist teacher with students at all ability levels.
  4. Create and implement the MTSS process.
  5. Work with EL students to implement I Can Statements.
  6. Administer WIDA Screener and WIDA Access Testing.
  7. Provide instructional support to students with a variety of learning disabilities.
  8. Participate in ISP meetings and other required meetings.
  9. Coordinate with local public school corporation Special Education personnel to develop individualized education plans for students identified as having disabilities and monitor their progress throughout the school year.
  10. Work with classroom teachers to develop and implement modifications and intervention strategies.
  11. Be comfortable with utilizing technology to compliment instruction and the student learning process. (Chromebooks, wireless projector, desktops, etc.)
  12. Track student progress and report quarterly to classroom teacher.
  13. Create flexible student skill groups based on formal and informal assessments.
  14. Communicate consistently and professionally with students, parents, staff, and administration.
  15. Possess an active Indiana teaching license.  Special Education Resource Specialist Certification. Knowledge of special education laws and regulations (state and federal).
