Full Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Position

Full-Time Position:  Administrator Contract
Reports To: Principal and/or Pastors

The ideal candidate will foster positive relationships with students through discipline methods that support our Catholic values. He/she will possess the ability to recognize the whole child and take the initiative to involve other school staff as needed in discipline/attendance situations.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Indiana Administrator license for elementary is preferred but not mandatory.  Minimum of three, preferably five, years of teaching/administration experience.
  • Must possess knowledge of Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend Curriculum/Standards and Policies.
  • Fulfill ongoing professional development relating to school safety and student discipline.
  • Knowledge and practical application of research-based discipline programs and student behavior improvement plans.
  • Strong understanding of classroom management procedures relevant to student success.
  • Experience managing student attendance policies and procedures.
  • Highly effective problem solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Athletics Responsibilities:
  • Track  registration for each sport at least 1 month prior to the first practice.  For fall sports, including football, volleyball, and cross country online registration will take place in the spring into the early summer.  Emergency medical waivers and HCS Athletic Code of Conduct Forms will be collected after registration closes to place on file in the school office.
  • New volunteer coaches will submit the Diocesan Volunteer Application and Verification of Video Watching and complete the online background check and Safe Environment Training.
  • Organize and assign rosters with parent/player contact information to coaches and coordinators.
  • Recruit coaches and conduct a preseason meeting with the coaches for each sport. 
  • Verify all emergency medical waivers and CYO Contracts for each player are on file in the office.
  • Compile and distribute athletics handbooks along with emergency medical waivers for each player.
  • Coordinate with coaches location, dates and times practices will be held and provide insurance coverage documents or contract agreements when necessary.  Also, working with both parishes to assure gym times are on all schedules.  Work with the office staff to assure the school calendar reflects the correct schedules.  
 
  • Coordinate with coaches’ distribution and collection of uniforms, practice equipment and end of season pins/letters.
  • Manage spirit wear orders of each team with vendors and distribute to teams when orders are fulfilled.
  • Submit player fees collected to HCS Business Manager.
  • Submit team fees to CYO Treasurer and coordinate CYO game schedules through attending necessary scheduling meetings.
  • Coordinate hosting duties for volleyball, boys basketball and girls basketball games scheduled at HCS including checking out and turning in admission and concession cash boxes, paying referees the day of games, maintaining inventory for concession sales, designating parent volunteers and coordinating setup and cleanup of the gym. Submit Athletic Check Requests on an ongoing basis for coaches, sports coordinators or anything related to HCS Booster Club.
  • Respond to ongoing questions or concerns from coaches and parents.
  • Work directly with school administration to ensure communication is timely and effective. 


Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Develops and administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with Diocesan and Huntington Catholic School policies; receives referrals and confers with students, parents, teachers, and community agencies; responds to and resolves parent, student, and staff concerns and complaints related to discipline.
  • Supervises students during morning arrival, in the hallways, during lunch and at dismissal.
  • Monitors and organizes attendance functions, prepares letters, calls parents, and attends meetings as needed, regarding absent or tardy students; provides leadership for attendance improvement efforts.
  • Provides direction to a variety of faculty, staff, and student programs and services; participates in formal and informal classroom visitations and observations; provides recommendations and suggestions for improvement as appropriate.
  • Works with principal to establish a safe and secure learning environment for students. Serves on School Safety Committee. Completes required certification as a School Safety Specialist. Develops and keeps updated safety/crisis plans for emergency situations in collaboration with administration, Huntington Catholic safety committee, and public safety agencies.
  • Working with principal and staff to schedule weekly collaboration and monthly after school meetings.
  • Serve as HASA (Home and School Association) Liaison.
  • Work with principal, students and Middle School teachers to plan elective classes.
  • Serve as annual Run for the Rams Co-Chair.
  • Obtains if needed and keeps current Professional Crisis Management Association (PCMA) certification.
  • Attend required school meetings as designated by the principal.
  • Attend extracurricular student activities (i.e. school dances, athletic events, etc.) as designated by the principal.
  • Assist as designated by the principal with student programs.
  • Other duties may be assigned throughout the year by the principal.
  • Skillfully manages individual, group, and organizational interactions.
  • Uses diplomacy and exercises self-control when dealing with other individuals.
  • Assist with Cafeteria and Recess Coverage as needed.

• Regularly required to read written material both up close and at a distance,
