We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Industrial Engineer to join our team in our Lawrenceville Georgia location. Responsible for all elements relating to the investment, implementation and continuous improvement relating to capital machines equipment & services for factory production. This includes managing 3rd party consultants, creating factory layouts to optimize flow and be a primary driver for Lean initiatives. Develop and maintain capacity and utilization analysis in order to support current orders as well as assess for new orders and commitments. Leads lean initiatives for Elma Americas and oversees future factory planning and implementation to exponential support business growth.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Work with all Operational functions to identify opportunities for investment and improvement of machines and equipment as part of the business strategy and budgeting process.
  • Assess investment and improvement projects and prepare detailed business cases to present to Management and Board of Directors.
  • Manage all aspects of implementation, including foundation construction, utility infrastructure, installation, training of operators & programmers and commissioning.
  • Create acceptance tests with manufacturing Engineering input to ensure successful handover of key equipment (CNC machines, painting line, etc.) to manufacturing and maintenance departments.
  • Support Maintenance function to set up preventative maintenance processes.
  • Support Sourcing and Purchasing functions with qualification of 3rd party suppliers for industrial processes.
  • Optimize factory layouts for flow and efficiency. This may include managing 3rd party consultants to do layout work, VSM and other evaluations in line with best practice methodologies.
  • Leads Lean projects, as required by the business (such as 5S, productive maintenance, visual controls, machine set-up projects).
  • Lead Manufacturing Engineering to optimize operational performance: productivity, machine utilization (OEE), resource efficiency, etc. with KPIs and other visual controls.
  • Leads Sales and Operations meetings to develop factory strategy/plans to support sales and marketing strategies for business development.
  • Provides oversight and coordination cross-functionally to support capacity/utilization optimization, determine investment needs, plan for production system support and deliver on our customer commitments.
  • Documents and develops the plan for the future of the industrial/production engineering organization to support large scale growth of the Americans business.

 

Qualifications:

  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly, painting, plating, surface treatments and basic electrics).
  • Experience with purchasing and implementation of capital equipment (particularly CNC machines).
  • Ability to prepare business cases with strong analytical and structured approach.
  • Knowledge of business systems, such as ERP, CNC programming, CADCAM, MRP, PDM, NCR
  • Thorough understanding of production business drivers, such as productivity, utilization, OEE, costing, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with operators and business leaders at all levels
  • Thorough knowledge of Lean methodologies (5S, VSM, Flow, Takt time, line balancing amongst others) and the ability to train and coach in selected areas of Lean.
  • Project management skills and training.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree with 7+ years’ work experience as an industrial engineer in a similar manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing using turrets, punches, lasers, brake presses and welding is a plus.
