We have an excellent opportunity for a Cable Design Engineer to join our team of professionals in Fremont, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team of cable engineers to analyze customer requirements for custom cabling for both commercial and military applications. Provide cost estimates for product. Work with vendors and customers to select connectors and cables to meet order specifications.

 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer requirements for custom cabling adhering to commercial as well as military specifications and /or various standards (e.g. SAFE, SOSA, VPX, VME64X, cPCI, IEEE. ARINC, Mil etc.)
  • Provide accurate cost estimates for sales department
  • Establish all necessary documents to manufacture and build requested cables
  • Work with vendors and customers to select connectors and cables to meet order specifications
  • Participate in Design review meetings and provide solutions to cable interconnect issues
  • Communicate effectively with sales, engineering, manufacturing staff and customers
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • Assign new projects to the Cable Engineering team
  • Write Performance Evaluation for team members
  • Mentor team members on improving skills, and knowledge of latest designs
  • Able to work on assignments which require sound cable design knowledge both for commercial and military applications
  • Use professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve a variety of problems
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Normally receives no instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments
  • Able to communicate effectively with sales, engineering and manufacturing staff and customers
  • Ability to multi-task

 

Education/Experience

  • BSME or equivalent education
  • AutoCAD skills a plus
  • Min. 10-15 years design experience preferably in related industry

 

Target Compensation: $115,000.00 - $120,000.00.
