Cares for and treats patients in medical office, as directed by Physician, by performing the following duties:
  • Prepares patient for and assists with examinations.
  • Weighs patients and takes temperatures and blood pressures.
  • Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, interprets Physician’s instructions to patients, assists with emergency and minor surgery, and performs related tasks as directed.
  • Makes referral appointments as necessary.
  • Cleans rooms after each patient.
  • Maintains records of vital statistics and other pertinent data of patients.
  • Reviews clerical records to insure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment, and maintains stock of supplies.
  • Conducts specified laboratory tests. 
  • Does daily controls on U/A and refrigerator temps.
  • Logs for CLIA.
  • Adheres to OSHA standards.
  • Completes call backs on patients if the Physician is otherwise occupied.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.


Requirements:
  • Minimum Education: Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
  • Required Courses(s)/Training: Completion of program for licensed vocational nursing, approved by the state of Louisiana
  • Required Certification/Registration Current LPN license; CPR certification
  • Preferred Experience of 1 year of prior office experience
