Follows individualized treatment programs for patients under the direction of a Physical Therapist according to the principles and practices of physical therapy. Communicates with physical therapist medical staff, referral sources, third party payers and the interdisciplinary treatment team as needed.
The PTA reports directly to the Therapy Manager and provides physical therapy treatments within the Physical Therapists plan of care.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program initiatives, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Carries out plans of care directed by the Physical Therapist to address needs, goals and interventions to achieve stated goals. This should include frequency and duration.
- Assists the Physical Therapists in gathering data for specialized tests, functional outcomes measures to objectively measure strength, ROM and function under the direction of the physical therapist.
- Directly guides patients in exercise programs and functional training under the direction of the physical therapist.
- Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings as required.
- Attends other meetings as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- BLS certification upon hire.
- PTA licensure.
- Graduate from an accredited PTA program
- Must be licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners and in good standing in the State of Louisiana.
- BLS required upon hire.
- MOAB certification preferred.
