Clinical Assistant performs specialized administrative and clerical support work including providing support for the Texas Veterans and Family Alliance Grant team, located at the Behavioral Justice Center.  Ensuring all office transactions are executed according to current Center policies and procedures. Works closely with Accounting Department to ensure all financial transactions, as they relate to approved purchases are paid according to Center policies and procedures.  Work involves gathering and assisting in preparing data for reports per grant requirement; and maintaining effective working relations with the stakeholders.  Works under the general supervision of the program director, and is allowed limited latitude in planning and arranging work according to unit needs. Work involves the application of advanced knowledge and independent judgment in fulfilling the job responsibilities.



  • Collecting data and preparing reports per grant guidelines
  • Prepares purchase orders for staff needs such as ordering office supplies, etc.
  • Completes Financial Assessments on individuals
  • Monitors for changes in clients payer status
  • Filing in client records
  • Prepares reimbursement documents such as in and out of region travel for staff
  • Assists with travel arrangements as requested
  • Assimilate data and assist in report preparation as needed
  • Completes projects as requested by program director

Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions

  • Excellent written communication  and computer keyboarding for inputting documentation
  • Excellent verbal/telephone communication with consumers, staff, and community providers
  • Organizational and filing skills and time management needed for maintaining records
  • Stooping, bending, sitting, standing for prolonged periods and lifting 15 pounds
  • Ability to be CPR and PMAB certified
  • Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of administrative and clerical experience is required
  • Veteran or Veteran family member preferred

Hours: 8AM-5PM M-F

Salary: $23,000 Annual/$11.0577 hourly
