This is a full-time Supervisory position for Group Homes in the HCS program. Hours for this position are generally 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, but require flexibility due to the need to cover shifts when vacancies occur. The person in this position will provide supervision, support and training to staff in the HCS group homes in Waco. The person in this position will be responsible for maintaining the upkeep of the residential homes, and maintaining the programmatic documentation required in the HCS program, including Fire safety inspections, fire drill reports, policies and procedures, etc.

  • Maintains shift schedules for group homes, assuring adequate coverage on a daily basis and minimizing the use of overtime. Provides shift coverage as needed when staff call in sick or otherwise take days off.
  • Trains and supervises direct support professional staff in performing therapeutic activities with consumers and insure the quality of program training.
  • Prepares materials for therapeutic activities and maintains an adequate supply of training materials for the group homes.
  • Assures adequate supply of groceries in the home to meet the needs of daily menus, and that emergency supplies are monitored frequently to assure HCS standards are always met in that area.
  • Serves as facility manager for group homes, assuring that the houses are well-maintained and that the need for repairs is reported quickly.
  • Assures Emergency Preparedness Plans and Fire Safety Plans are readily available, that staff are trained on the plans, and that documents within the plan are kept up to date.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • The person in this position must have the ability to train and/or provide ongoing supervision of staff, to provide habilitative therapy.
  • Maintain records, to prepare reports.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Within six months of employment, the person in this position must demonstrate the ability to understand formal individualized training goals and objectives
  • Be able to train staff in accordance with the treatment plans.
  • In addition, within six months of employment, the person in this position must understand the purpose of and effectively use any equipment, tools, and materials used for training or used routinely by residents for the purpose of mobility or other physical or medical purposes.
  • Excellent written communication  and computer keyboarding for inputting clinical documentation
  • Excellent verbal and telephone communication with consumers, staff, and community providers
  • Time management required to meet service goals
  • 100% local travel
  • Stooping, bending, sitting, standing, and keyboarding for prolonged periods, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to be CPR and PMAB certified
  • Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year work supervisor experience preferred
  • 2 year work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities Required
  • 1 year in a residential facility Required
  • Valid Driver's License and proof of Liability Insurance Required

Hours: 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, but requires some flexibility.

Salary $30,000 Annual/$14.423 Hourly
