Direct Support Professional work as a team with nurses, case managers, guardians, and family members to provide training and support to individuals who require assistance to live in the community. 

Examples of Work Performed

  • Transporting consumers to and assisting them with activities
  • Training and assisting consumers in completing household chores (cooking, cleaning, laundry, hygiene)
  • Supervising administration of medications
  • Providing input regarding client needs and progress in interdisciplinary meetings
  • Monitoring consumers for safety and reporting any concerns to supervisor or RN

Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions

  • Excellent written communication  and basic computer keyboarding for documenting training
  • Excellent verbal communication with consumers, staff, and community providers
  • Stooping, bending, sitting, standing for prolonged periods and lifting 50-75 pounds
  • Ability to be CPR and SAMA certified
  • Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities strongly preferred

Hours: 4pm-midnight M-F

Salary: $9.01 hourly/ $18,740.08 annually
