Habilitation Specialists work with other staff and consumers and their families to provide training and support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Duties include:
- developing implementation plans based on Individual Plans of Care
- monitor progress, make recommendations, and prepare progress reviews
- transporting consumers to and assisting them with activities
- training and assisting consumers in completing daily living skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions
- Excellent written communication and computer keyboarding for inputting documentation
- Excellent verbal/telephone communication with consumers, staff, and community providers
- Organizational and filing skills and time management needed for maintaining records
- Stooping, bending, sitting, standing for prolonged periods and lifting 50 pounds
- Ability to be CPR and SAMA certified
- Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year full-time related work experience required
- 1 year experience in IDD preferred
Hours: 8AM-5PM M-F
Salary: $10.00 hourly/ $20,800 annually
Location: Mexia, Groesbeck and Waco
