Habilitation Specialists work with other staff and consumers and their families to provide training and support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Duties include:

  • developing implementation plans based on Individual Plans of Care
  • monitor progress, make recommendations, and prepare progress reviews
  • transporting consumers to and assisting them with activities
  • training and assisting consumers in completing daily living skills

Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions

  • Excellent written communication  and computer keyboarding for inputting documentation
  • Excellent verbal/telephone communication with consumers, staff, and community providers
  • Organizational and filing skills and time management needed for maintaining records
  • Stooping, bending, sitting, standing for prolonged periods and lifting 50 pounds
  • Ability to be CPR and SAMA certified
  • Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year full-time related work experience required
  • 1 year experience in IDD preferred

Hours: 8AM-5PM M-F

Salary: $10.00 hourly/ $20,800 annually

Location: Mexia, Groesbeck and Waco
