Coordinates and provides services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Autism, and for consumers with dual diagnosis, in the IDD Crisis Services program. Duties include but are not limited to responding to (potential and actual) crisis situations for families and individuals in the IDD Crisis Services program, monitoring and documenting consumer behavior, administering training plans and teaching consumers social, communication, and coping skills. Duties also include demonstrating and teaching applied behavior analysis techniques to consumers, staff members, school personnel and family members. Training occurs in the group homes, in the school setting, Day Habilitation programs, nursing homes, in the community setting and family homes. Additional requirements are maintaining consumer charts and making recommendations to refer consumers to other programs to meet individual needs. This position may require flexible hours and may require immediate response to crisis situations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions
- Excellent written communication and computer keyboarding for inputting clinical documentation
- Duties include but are not limited to monitoring and assessing consumer behavior, preparing training plans, and teaching consumer social, communication, and coping skills.
- Conducts parent, group home staff, Day habilitation staff, and school staff training in ABA techniques.
- Facilitates and provides training in ABA techniques, including shaping, prompting, fading, chaining, errorless learning;
- Excellent verbal and telephone communication with consumers, staff, and community providers
- Time management required to meet service goals
- Travel to provide services for clients, including regional travel about 20% of time and local travel 20% of time.
- Stooping, bending, sitting, standing, and keyboarding for prolonged periods, lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to be CPR and PMAB certified
- Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required
Education and Experience
- A High School Diploma is required or Bachelor's degree.
- RBT certification must be obtained within three months of employment to maintain employment with the company.
- At least 1 year of paid work experience with people with IDD and/or Autism who exhibit challenging behaviors is required.
- Work experience with people with Mental Illness may be considered as a substitution for work with people with IDD/Autism.
- Experience with a family member who has an intellectual disability and/or autism may substitute for paid work experience.
Hours: M-F 8A-5PM (variable at times)
Salary: $33,280 ($16.Hour)-39,520 ($19/hour) annually/$ (depending upon educational level and RBT certification or both)
