This position performs routine building maintenance and construction work. Work involves maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment; and operating motorized equipment. Works under the moderate supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Experience and duties required:

 
  • Performs maintenance, construction, and repair work such as masonry, welding, carpentry, painting, or mechanical work.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment, tools, and buildings. Operates and maintains motorized vehicles and equipment.
  • May assist with the preventative maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, utility systems, boilers, and boiler feed pumps.
  • May assist with plumbing; electrical; or heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work. May repair equipment and fabricate parts for repairs.
  • May maintain records on work orders or projects.
  • May perform inspections of operating machinery, equipment, and utility systems to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings, equipment, and utility systems.
  • Skill in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions; to work from drawings, diagrams, or blueprints; and to communicate effectively.
  • Must have and maintain a level of general health, which permits the performance of job duties.

Education and Experience
  • Experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Experience in general motor vehicle maintenance.
  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  •  Preferred Education: Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.

Registration, Certifications or Licensure
 
  • Must have valid Texas Driver’s License and current and continued proof of automobile liability insurance.
  • Must be insurable by the Center’s liability carrier if the employee operates a Center vehicle or drives a personal car on Center business.

Hours: 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM Mon-Fri         

Salary: $15.00 hourly/$31,200 annually
