EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
- Provides assistance with activities of daily living
- Provides individual training to and supervises individuals or groups of individuals in performing therapeutic activities that foster greater independence
- Coordinates individual and group activities in the community and/or in a group home facility
- Maintains records of consumers’ participation in and responses to training, treatment and everyday activities
- Prepares materials for therapeutic activities and maintains an adequate supply of materials
- Responds to consumer health issues as needed and directed through individual plans of care
- Provides a safe environment for consumers when in their care including behavioral as well as medical issues
- Performs related work as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions
- Excellent written communication and computer keyboarding for inputting documentation
- Excellent verbal/telephone communication with consumers, staff, and community providers
- Organizational and filing skills and time management needed for maintaining records
- Stooping, bending, sitting, standing for prolonged periods and lifting 50-75 pounds
- Ability to be CPR and PMAB certified
- Valid Texas driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 6 months work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities strongly preferred
- Valid Driver's License and proof of Liability Insurance Required
