This position provides oversight to all Center Maintenance Services and staff in performing maintenance and repairs, and ensures that work standards and safety and building regulations are met, for all Center facilities. The Maintenance Supervisor works under the supervision of the Manager of the Contracts Management Unit with considerable latitude for the use of initiative, discretion and independent judgment.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

 
  • Responsible for monitoring all facilities for safety, environmental and ADA compliance and general condition of facilities.
  • Oversight and participation in scheduled preventative maintenance programs.
  • Coordinates the work of outside contractors and advises management on the specifics of proposed or ongoing projects.
  • Inspects completed work on buildings, equipment, machinery, vehicles, and grounds; and reports inspection findings to appropriate staff and management.
  • May assist in obtaining bids and information for RFP’s for services as it relates to facility needs.
  • Work involves assisting in establishing program goals and objectives.
  • Prepares and reviews reports; maintains records of repair; and provides status updates to management regarding projects, workloads, and project priorities.
  • Performs related work as assigned 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance; construction techniques; plumbing and heating systems; electrical systems; sanitation practices; fire and safety regulations and procedures; painting, carpentry, and welding techniques; steel fabrication; inspection procedures; and local building codes.
  • Skill in the use of tools and equipment, in prioritizing work schedules, and in monitoring and inspecting the work performed by staff and contractors.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications; to organize preventative maintenance programs; to develop effective work methods; to draw rough sketches of proposed projects; to communicate effectively; and to supervise the work of others.
  • Must have and maintain a level of general health, which permits the performance of job duties.
Experience and Education
 
  1. Experience in general construction and maintenance work.
  2. Two (2) years of work experience as a maintenance supervisor and/or technician.
  3. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
  4. Supplemental vocational training in designated trades such as HVAC, electrical etc., is generally preferred.

Registration, Certifications or Licensure
  1. Electrical and HVAC certification is preferred. 
  2. Must have valid Texas Driver’s License and current and continued proof of automobile liability insurance. Must be insurable by the Center’s liability carrier if the employee operates a Center vehicle or drives a personal car on Center business.
Hours: Mon-Fri 7:30am-3:30pm

Salary: $48,000-$50,000 Depending on Experience and Certifications
