The person in this position performs professional psychological work that involves testing, developing a diagnosis and endorsing previous diagnoses. Works under general supervision, exercising initiative and independent judgement in performing the details of job responsibilities. Must work cooperatively and effectively with other professionals to exercise professionalism, initiative, and good judgement when working with consumers and families; to prepare reports, and to communicate effectively.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:          

 
  • Administers and scores psychometric and projective tests to determine eligibility for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities services. Review psychiatric, psychological, medical, school, and other relevant information for individuals seeking IDD services. Completes written reports in accordance with HHSC DID Best Practices Guidelines as required by  26 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Chapter 304, Diagnostic Assessment
  • Completes the Inventory for Client and Agency Planning (ICAP) admissions for all potential admissions to Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities providers (ICF/IID) in the six-county service areas served by HOTBHN.
  • Endorses the Determination of Intellectual Disability or the testing for individuals who seek IDD services and have been deemed eligible for IDD services based on previous reports.
  • Participates in staff development activities in relation to assigned duties and according to current program requirements. Maintains licensure as a psychologist including participation in CEU qualified trainings as required by the licensure board

Experience and Education
 
  • A current license granted by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (TBHEC) as a Licensed Psychological Associate, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, or Provisionally Licensed Psychologist.
  • Prefer two years of work experience and training in clinical psychology and working with individuals with IDD.
  • Master's Degree

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 
  • Considerable knowledge of psychology, tests and measurements, and a working knowledge of psychiatry and medicine
  • Skills in administering psychometric and projective tests
  • Ability to administer and interpret psychometric and projective tests, to exercise patience and understanding, to work effectively with consumers/families, coworker, and professionals to prepare accurate, comprehensive reports of tests and interviews.
  • Must have and maintain a level of general health which permits the performance of job duties. 
  • Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be organized and have time management skills.
  • Travel locally 20% and regionally 20%.
  • Must have excellent computer skills (Work, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
Hours: Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM 

Salary: $60,000-$74,000 Depending on qualifications
