The HOTTCHY Resident monitor plays a critical role in providing on-site supervision and support with basic needs and stability of transitional age youth (18-24) experiencing homelessness and residing in transitional housing under the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP). This role is essential in ensuring resident safety, program compliance with HUD regulations, and a stable, supportive living environment that promotes self-efficacy.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

 
  • Provide resident supervision
  • Monitor resident behavior to ensure program rules are followed
  • Conduct bed checks and curfews.
  • Resolve conflicts or report incidents to supervisor.
  • Conduct walkthroughs to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Report on maintenance needs.
  • Ensure security protocols are followed.
  • Maintain daily logs and incident reports.
  • Document resident participation and rule violations.
  • Assist with intakes and discharges as needed,
  • Encourage residents’ participation in case management, employment training, or mental health/ substance use programs.
  • Assist residents with transportation to job interviews, appointments etc.
  • Ensure adherence to HUD guidelines on housing quality standards, eligibility, and reporting.
  • Deliver skilled mentoring and coaching in personal hygiene, food preparation, and housing readiness.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, following crisis response protocols, including contacting emergency services when necessary.
  • Assist with inventory and distribution of hygiene products, linens, and basic supplies.
Education: High school diploma/GED or equivalent.

Experience and Training:                    
  • Experience as set forth under Education. 
  • Must have current valid driver’s license and current and continued proof of liability insurance.
  • Experience working with the homeless population is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:    
  • Knowledge of monitoring residents in transitional housing.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations calmly and effectively, especially in diverse populations. 
  • Attend work in a timely manner and on a regular basis to ensure adequate staffing and provision of services. 
  • Demonstrate courtesy and respect in relationships with others within the organization and external to the organization. 
  • Does not engage in frequent conflicts with others. 
  • Communicate effectively, keeping supervisor adequately informed with accurate and complete information; willingly and effectively perform assigned duties. 
  • The person in this position will serve as a role model for all transitional age youth in regards to appearance, interaction, problem solving methodology, personal accountability and demonstration of respect for others, self and property.
  • Level of general health permitting stooping, bending, climbing stairs and participating in moderately active recreational activities. 
  • Physical ability to perform CPR and PMAB skills. 
  • Must have and maintain a level of general health which permits the performance of job duties.
Hours: Mon-Fri 3pm-11pm
