The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for managing the full accounts receivable lifecycle, including billing, collections, cash application, and reimbursement tracking. This role plays a key part in optimizing cash flow, reducing outstanding receivables, and ensuring accurate revenue recognition in a behavioral health setting with Medicaid, grant, and third-party funding sources.

Examples of work performed
- Monitor and manage accounts receivable aging reports
- Follow up on outstanding balances and collections
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies
- Support and aid in billing processes (Medicaid, insurance, grants, and self-pay)
- Retrieve authorization documentation requested for billing services
- Track reimbursement timelines and variances
- Apply payments to appropriate accounts and invoices
- Reconcile cash receipts to general ledger
- Assist with daily and monthly cash reconciliation
- Analyze trends in collections, denials, and aging
- Prepare reports on revenue cycle performance
- Identify and escalate issues impacting cash flow
- Assist with aging reports for denials & zero pays
- Coordinate with billing and program staff to resolve issues
- Maintain compliance with payer requirements and internal policies
- Ensure proper documentation for audit and reporting purposes
- Work closely with accounting, finance, and program teams
- Support Financial Analysts with revenue data and insights
- HS Diploma/GED Required
- Associates, bachelor's or equivalent experience preferred
- 2-5 years of experience in accounts receivables, billing, or revenue cycle
- Resume REQUIRED
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and financial systems
- Must understand revenue cycle processes
- Ability to problem solve and have investigative skills
- Strong attention to details
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines
- Must have strong communication and follow-up skills
- Must have valid driver's license and current and continued liability insurance.
