  What You Will Do: 
As a Chief Engineer, you will be a technical pillar for new product development programs, strategic product initiatives and a prime technical advisor. Your experience will be utilized to review technical proposals and communicate technical topics with company leadership, customers, and suppliers. You will be a participant in technical design reviews, and strategy discussions. You will support various activities including system analysis, functional analysis, interface definition, trade studies, and system testing strategies.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • The Chief Engineer will play a pivotal role in driving overall system architecture, primarily focusing on hardware with a complementary understanding of software.
  • As a deeply technical and cross-functional leader, the Chief Engineer will lead critical design decisions, conduct trade studies, and translate customer requirements into actionable system and subsystem specifications.
  • Moreover, the Chief Engineer will collaborate with customers, guiding the development of internal technical roadmaps to meet evolving customer needs and ensure Korry remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • The Chief Engineer is responsible for supporting a team of system, hardware, and software engineers in the development of avionics products while also supporting the servicing of already fielded products.
  • Significantly contributes to end-to-end product development, spanning all aspect of the product life cycle: from product concept inception strategy, requirements validation, product development, design, testing, certification, product delivery and to post-delivery support.
  • Establish a culture of proactive cross-functional technical oversight, risk management and rapid issue resolution, providing alternative paths for issue resolution and open and honest dialogue on technical issues across all functions.
  • Serve as technical authority on applicable Product and engineering boards.
  • Lead and/or approves root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities.
  • Reviews design changes and configuration control as well as creation, establishment and execution of design processes and standards
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partnering organizations for on-going and new business product development.
  • Provides oversight over Engineering execution within the program, having decision authority over Engineering activities.
  • Supports technical discussions at every level internally and externally.
  • Validate overall budget and schedule for program Engineering tasks, working closely with the engineering discipline organizations to review program execution on a periodic basis to ensure meeting schedule and cost.
  • Supports the creation of executable Estimates at Completion (EAC) for the program in collaboration with the responsible Engineering leaders.
  • Oversee and manage engineering Risks and Opportunities across the programs, leveraging the enterprise to mitigate key risks and capture opportunities.
  • Supports technical reviews engineering management of suppliers in accordance with subcontractor statement of work, requirements specifications, and engineering processes.
  • Identify and exploit synergies across programs and across the Enterprise.
  • Provides technical oversight of the status reports to Program and Engineering organizations.
  • Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite; some travel will be required.
 Preferred Education & Experience:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in system engineering, hardware design, and technical leadership roles for avionics, or related products in the defense, commercial or related industries.
  • Proven expertise in system architecture design, with a strong emphasis on combined hardware/software systems and systems integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive decisions on complex technical issues and system trades.
  • Ability to perform system analysis to ensure subsystem specifications, when all tied together, meet product requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with SAE ARP4256, RTCA DO-178 and DO-254. 
Salary Range:
  • Please note the typical hiring range is $160,000 - $220,000 annually. Job offers within the range are based on significant job qualifications and pay equity.
