DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for the operational excellence and profitable sales growth of their assigned geographic region, including training, mentoring, and developing the talent of their store managers to achieve company objectives. While sales is a critical component to this role, the DSOM is also responsible for direct operational oversight and is responsible for upholding company-wide standards. This position will support the management teams in our locations in North Carolina (outside the Outer Banks), Virginia, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Hampshire,  Maine, and Florida. This job is based in the corporate office in Kill Devil Hills, NC.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assess and remove barriers to performance from the store managers’ workload
  • Support store managers in their endeavor to achieve sales and payroll goals
  • Ensure region-level resources are being maximized and effectively deployed
  • Manage the performance and development of all outlying store managers
  • Engage in one-on-one coaching and direction on a daily basis
  • Effectively lead and facilitate weekly (each Monday) district meetings that educate, motivate, and ultimately produce key behavior changes to drive business performance
  • Conduct sales planning, goal setting, and effectively strategize within the local business environment
  • Successfully deliver brand results and ensure all resources are effectively/efficiently implemented
  • Support, execute, and promote all sales, promotions, and local initiatives
  • Provide coaching, training, and timely feedback to drive store management development of sales process and unit-level management
  • Able to process data to help manage performance of all outlying store managers
  • Responsible for merchandising in each retail location, working with the Buying Department and training managers and staff to merchandise effectively
  • Responsible for merchandising stores on as-needed basis.
  • Coach all store managers on scheduling & payroll management
  • Hold store managers accountable for sales and payroll goals/budgets
  • Attend buyers weekly huddle, provide list of needed SKUs, and report on trends, maintaining feedback with buyers throughout the week
  • Meet with CEO weekly to review issues and action items
  • Conduct store audits, reviewing with manager their needs, sales, payroll & schedule
  • Ensure managers stay within budget
  • Respond to stores that need help and go to their location to assist, including covering shifts at stores
  • Purchase hard goods
  • Liaison with the CEO to ensure cohesive communication and lockstep execution
  • Per direction of the CEO, implement changes to programs or processes, ensuring all sales associates achieve required behavior changes and performance metrics
  • Additional sales management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: operational management, employee recruitment, recommendation of business improvement opportunities
  • All other duties as required
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum five years sales or operations management experience
  • Ten years retail management experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Advanced in Excel
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record (background check required)

  • Ability to identify areas for improvement and immediately address them in an effective manner
  • Ability to analyze and interpret sales data to identify trends and respond quickly to them

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The work environment for this position is generally an indoor controlled environment with moderate noise levels
  • Will be requested to work more than 45 hours a week and on weekends during the company’s in-season time period
  • This position requires frequent on the road travel to store locations as needed
  • May be requested to drive company vehicle to other locations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Much time will be spent talking and hearing, as well as using hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Time will be spent standing, walking, sitting, and reaching
  • Some time will be spent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
  • Expect to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Adequate vision is required, including close, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Some other physical demands come from continuous computer work, cash register work, sales floor work, events work, and mail order work
  • Required to climb up and down ladders to assist with ceiling displays, hang signs, pictures and other products
