PRIMARY PURPOSE: 
Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, oversee running of quality assurance procedures and plant GMP’s in a safe environment for hourly employees, while producing a high quality product according to daily production requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.  
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSinclude the following, and other duties may be assigned as needed.
 
  • Train new and motivate Quality Control Technicians and Sanitation employees to work together to maintain quality control and high levels of production.  Establish good working relationships with all employees assigned. Applicable to Agency Employees.
  • Supervise and oversee all Quality Assurance Technicians and activities and meet or exceed all quality standards.
  • Delegate work assignments as directed by shift Supervisor and or Quality Manager.
  • Daily interfacing with Quality Control Technicians, Production Clerk and Production Machine Operators on assigned production lines.
  • Comply and follow established guidelines for Quality and Safety including any and all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure line setup at start of shift and or order change. Including inspection of work areas and equipment.
  • Provide a safe working environment for the crew, while maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and an accident free record.
  • Knowledgeable on product specifications and standard operating procedures in the quality assurance department.
  • Implement and enforce quality goals, procedures, and all food safety requirements, including but not limited to, product coding, plant GMP’s, proportions, raw materials quality, and plant critical control points.
  • Complete quality assurance reports and forms as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in training.
  • Communicate tailgates, communications affecting or pertaining to the union employees.
  • Enforce and adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
  • Manage and comply with seniority per CBA as it applies or pertains to the union employees.

Supervise and oversee Quality Assurance Technicians and activities to Crew Lead’s assigned shift.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Two (2) years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of computer skills, Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of “use by” and Julian dates for product labeling preferred.  On the job training will be provided. 
  • Bi-lingual and bi-literate English/Spanish preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to complete standard department forms.
  • Basic math skills (i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages).
  • Possess ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Knowledge of company products, packaging,  freshness control program, quality standards and tolerances preferred.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
