GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The primary responsibility of this position is to operate a forklift for loading and unloading trailers, counting and relocating inventory and performing pick line tasks safely and efficiently.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
  • Drive and operate a forklift.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment and trailers.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Perform cycle counts and inventory functions.
  • Load and unload trailers.
  • Consolidate, palletize, and carry out pick-line functions.
  • Be vigilant of any foreign objects and damages to boxes or contents.
  • Work safely around equipment and machinery.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:  
  • EXPERIENCE: Forklift experience is required, and candidates must pass forklift certification.
  • SKILLS: Good oral communication skills and knowledge of warehouse procedures are necessary. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform all lift operations, including battery changes.
  • ADDITIONAL: Must have hands-on experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. Ability to work independently with limited supervision is required. Candidates must maintain regular attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, and understand and adhere to posted work rules and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Work is carried out in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees F.
Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia are present. Work surfaces and floors
 may be wet. Employees must wear approved shoes and protective equipment. The ability
 to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted for up to ¾ of the workday and lift 6 kg overhead as job demands. Constant standing on a concrete floor, along with reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements may be required. Moving machinery, including conveyors and forklifts, will be in operation in the immediate area.

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 
  •      Ability to work overtime as needed, with some weekends required.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • A high school diploma, GED, or demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks is required. Candidates must successfully complete the required Work Keys.
