GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for trimming, loading, sorting, and inspecting raw vegetables and blends according to specifications, ensuring the production of safe quality food (SQF).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
  • Trim, load, sort, and inspect raw vegetables and blends based on specifications and trimming/processing applications.
  • Pay close attention to foreign objects and contaminants that may be present in the product.
  • Keep floors and machines clear of debris and excess water.
  • Move between assigned areas throughout the day as directed.
  • Meet specific performance standards, such as the required number of trimmed heads per minute in the Trim department.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:  
  • EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of production processes is required, with previous experience in a food processing facility preferred.
  • SKILLS: Effective communication and computer skills are essential.
  • ADDITIONAL: This position requires the ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. You must be able to work independently with limited supervision, maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with colleagues, and adhere to posted work rules/procedures. Flexibility is necessary to work in other assigned positions or areas within the production department as needed.
     
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Work is performed in a cool environment, averaging 34 degrees Fahrenheit. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia are present. Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment. You must be able to lift to 20 lbs. unassisted for up to ¾ of the workday and lift 10 lbs. overhead as job demand. Constant standing on a concrete floor, along with reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements, may be necessary. Be aware of the moving machinery, including conveyors and forklifts, operates in the immediate area. WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, rotating shifts preferred/required.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • A high school diploma or GED is required. Completion of the required WorkKeys tests is mandatory.
