Position Summary:
The Accountant is a full-time position, responsible for various accounting tasks, including the monthly close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, audit preparation/support, and ad hoc special projects.  The person in this role will provide professional, timely service to both internal staff and external contacts, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail that is required of an accounting system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
General Ledger
  • Assist in the monthly closing procedures, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations

Accounts Payable
  • Manage vendor list
  • Distribute invoices to personnel for approval and follow-up as necessary
  • Enter approved invoices for weekly check runs and/or wire transfers
  • Route invoices to the appropriate parties for approval, and follow-up as necessary
  • Maintain electronic filing of invoices and checks
  • Respond to requests for petty cash/travel reimbursements and record related expenses
  • Manage the monthly corporate credit card process, including reviewing expense reports
  • Administer W-9 and 1099 forms

  • Maintain accounting files and prepare files for archive
  • Complete vehicle and vessel registrations and maintain records
  • Controller and Accounting Manager with ad hoc special projects and reports as needed

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in a corporate accounting environment, including job costing
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, specifically Excel
  • Experience with Sage 300 software a plus

Skills/Technical Knowledge:
  • Aptitude for numbers, detail-oriented, quantitative skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and follow through
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and work under the pressure of deadlines
  • Customer service oriented; able to shift gears, respond to questions and take responsibility in a generous and helpful way

  • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
  • This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening, and a background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification.
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites as needed
