Established in Los Angeles in 2011 with locations nation-wide, RatPac Controls designs, manufactures, sells, and rents power and data distribution equipment for lighting in the Motion Picture, Television, and Broadcast Media industries. Our product developments are focused on making the jobs of lighting and rigging easier and more efficient. Our products have been used on major motion picture and television shows around the world for over a decade. These product portfolios include whisper-quiet dimming solutions for all varieties of HMI, LED, and tungsten lights. We also lead the way in wireless lighting controls systems, designing and manufacturing transmitters and receivers compatible with all varieties of lighting fixtures commonly used on production sets.
 Summary
Performs professional quality assignments of Considerable complexity with considerable discretion as to work details. Work involves the application of engineering principles in the development and administration of quality/reliability procedures and statistical techniques to assure the Product(s) meet or exceeds company standards. The Quality Engineer will report directly to the Director of Manufacturing and oversee QC testing area, RMA and Repair areas, Incoming Inspection, Supplier Quality and all aspects of quality in RatPac Controls.
 
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Designs, develops, implements, and continually evaluates complex Quality assurance and/or control methods.
  • Designs or evaluates fixtures and processes to insure the continuing Maintenance of product quality and reliability.
  • Develops standards and processes to insure the continuing Maintenance of product quality and reliability.
  • Develops standards and procedures to provide quality/reliability Guidance and methods.
  • Analyzes reports and returned products histories to determine quality Trends and recommends corrective action.
  • Monitors production and test activities for compliance with quality/ Reliability standards.
  • Implements Statistical Process Control system to evaluate and monitor Manufacturing processes.
  • Issues inspection instruction to define parameters to be checked out sub Assemblies and final products.
  • Audits all manufacturing processes with direct bearing on product quality/reliability Including manufacturing process controls, test equipment calibration and Non-conforming material. Provides technical guidance and trains inspection team members.
  • Provides floor support in matters or quality acceptance criteria, Problem resolution, interpretation of documents, and direction in Undocumented areas.
  • Prepares various management reports and documentation as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Prepares periodic reports or data for presentation to upper management Showing record of achievement on established goals, recommend Improvements, personnel requirements, and other related matters.
  • Plans and conducts periodic audits to ensure compliance with appropriate Procedures in instruction, testing, receiving, inspection, engineering,
  • Reliability, and related areas. Reviews errors, spoilage and salvage report, and ensures control disposition of non-conforming material in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provides technical assistance to related departments involved with the purchase of materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Develops, interprets, reviews, and modifies quality plans, programs. And standards to ensure understanding and effectiveness in economic Quality control of standards and quality levels. Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations a product Quality standards issued by OSHA, EPA, etc. and other federal State, and local government safety agencies. Administers general administrative and technical programs, i.e.
  • Communication, staffing, training, performance appraisals, and Employee relations. Keeps abreast of new development in the industry through contacts, Educational institutions, societies, equipment manufactures, etc. Maintains continuing liaison with applicable federal, state, and local Agencies involved with product quality activities. Coordinate and directs all projects that are assigned. Assists upper Management in all matters as requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance / control in manufacturing with management skills and background in electric industry.
  • Familiar with ISO certification according to ISO 9000
  • Knowledgeable of IPC 610 and IPC 620 standards, ESD and MSLD requirements.
