The Vice Principal is accountable to the Elementary School Principal and has, with the cooperation of the Faculty, Staff, and the Principal, jurisdiction over:
  • any students at any time or any place within the school.
  • any faculty or staff member within the school.
The Vice Principal is responsible for:
  • promoting positive relationships between the school, the parents of its students, and the general community.
  • assisting with monthly parent prayer services and coffee and donut socials.
  • assisting in the organization and implementation of a sound program of student discipline through effective communication with faculty, staff, students, and parents.
  • writing and assisting with the delivery of daily prayer and announcements, including working with Student Council members to deliver them each day.
  • assisting teachers in the coordination of the school's service-to-the community program.
  • partnering with the enrichment coordinators to provide enrichment opportunities for our school's students.
  • assisting in the supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff and promoting the improvement of faculty and staff performance.
  • leading our teacher and staff-mentoring program for new employees.
  • assisting with in-depth studies and analysis of data for school improvement.
  • serving as the school's testing coordinator.
  • maintaining a list of approved substitutes and helping to arrange for substitutes when necessary.
  • implementing and revising emergency procedures:  fire, earthquake, and lockdown procedures.
  • supervising and evaluating the lunch program and its employees.
  • coordinating the school's student drop-off and pick-up times.
  • coordinating and supervising the school's after-school offerings.
  • coordinating parent recess volunteers and providing annual trainings.
  • scheduling building use and arranging for site supervisors.
  • serving actively on leadership teams, such as the leadership advisory team, accreditation leadership team, and the campus safety committee.
  • assisting in the development and implementation of the school action plans.
  • managing and submitting monthly payroll.
  • filling in for the Principal as needed.
  • providing support in the front office as needed.
Qualification for the Vice Principal role include: 
  • be willing to take direction from the Principal.
  • be capable of working in a high activity environment with frequent interruptions.
  • be self-directed, with the ability to multi-task and still stay focused.
  • maintain confidentiality about students and their families.
  • maintain a consistent record of attendance and punctuality.
  • be capable of evaluating and improving educational programs.
  • be capable of leading and motivating others.
  • be capable of communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • demonstrate positive interpersonal relations.
  • have an appreciation for individual differences, including those of students requiring special education services.
  • possess at leave five years' experience as a teacher, along with demonstrated effectiveness as a leader within a school.
  • have a current master's degree in educational administration or related field.
  • be able to lift and carry 35+lbs. of school/office supplies, books, etc.
  • be able to walk up and down numerous flights of stairs on a daily basis.
  • be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, PowerSchool, and the Internet.
  • be supportive of Catholic Christian education and serve as a positive Christian role model for the student and staff of Valley Catholic School.
Preference is given to Catholic applicants.
