The Assistant Controller reports to the Controller and is responsible for oversight of the finance, accounting and reporting activities, support for the board finance and audit committee and works closely with the senior leadership team.  In addition, the Assistant Controller will partner with the senior leadership, Human Resources (HR) and Information Technology (IT) staff to enhance and better integrate Finance, HR, and IT functions.

Essential Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist in producing financial reports.
  • Manage accounting records.
  • Assist in managing payroll, compliance, and inventory employees.
  • Assist with budget creation that matches forecasted revenue.
  • Verify that all payments for accounts payable & receivable made in a timely manner.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent working knowledge of manual and electronic accounting systems and software, sharp financial analysis capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including effective senior management reporting skills.
  • Well-developed supervisory skills.
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel to create a strong staff with sound financial performance.
  • Ability to support the organization by being approachable, reliable and focused on timely, accurate financial information and financial advice.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within a Finance Department.
  • Minimum 1-year recent experience as Sr. Accountant or Assistant Controller with responsibility for accounts, budgeting, cost accounting, credit/collections and finance, preferably in a long-term care facility.
  • Expert level Excel knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in overall business management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License preferred.
  • Experience working in healthcare industry; non-profit preferred
