The Vice President is responsible for the leadership and management of assigned account services team members, providing professional counsel to clients, business development and community involvement, and maintains ongoing relationships with media, business and civic leaders, as well as local boards and associations.

The Vice President will work on a variety of client accounts to solve problems, manage client relationships, and implement strategic initiatives in the areas of public relations, leadership development, and inclusion and diversity.

The expectation is that a qualified candidate at the VP level be equal parts account manager, business development generator and team leader.

Office and Personnel Management
  • Interview and hire account team members and perform performance reviews for assigned direct reports.
  • Effectively manage the daily operations of assigned account services team and in a manner that reflects the firm’s culture, credo, mission and values.
  • Is responsible for the selection of a prospect or client’s project manager, the initial selection of team members and managing the account team workload.
  • Is responsible for oversight of project managers and overall client relations.
  • Oversees the assigned account service team’s compliance with the firm’s policies and procedures and in meeting deadlines.
  • Serves as a leader and mentor for assigned account services staff.
  • Practices and maintains strong internal communications with all staff.
Project Management
  • Coordinate and manage all service offerings and team members working with the client.
  • Work directly with clients on a day-to-day basis to manage projects and maintain strong relationships.
  • Provide client counsel and creative recommendations to meet communications and business goals.
  • Be abreast of the status of all service areas involved with the client and manage their timely execution of duties and project responsibilities.
  • Be responsible for the financial management of the client relationship.
  • Conduct regular internal meetings with all members of the STF team involved with the client to discuss progress on project goals, share service area updates, develop strategy and brainstorm new, value-added ideas for the client.
  • Regularly scan the scope of the relationship with the client to determine areas of vulnerability and potential.
  • Conduct monthly invoicing and basic client accounting.
  • Be responsible for the extension or renewal of the current client engagements.

Business Development and Company Support
  • Recruit new business, grow existing business, and seek opportunities to profitably expand current product lines.
  • Assist in managing area business development initiatives and encourage business development by promoting the firm to potential new clients.
  • Generate proposals and participate in new business presentations.
  • Assist in promotion and marketing of the firm.
  • Provide support to the partners, leadership team and account service staff, as assigned.
  • Practice and maintain strong internal communications.

Community Service
  • Demonstrate active participation and leadership in civic and charitable activities.
  • Maintain good working relationships with community groups, including nonprofit, civic, education, civic, cultural and others.
  • Represent the firm at a variety of external functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 10-12 years’ experience in public relations, marketing, public affairs or leadership consulting. Agency experience preferred.
  • Staff management experience and natural ability is preferred.
  • Proven skills in counseling for internal and external clients.
  • Dedication to go above-and-beyond to meet and exceed client need.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage budgetary planning and read, understand and create business financial statements is preferred.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, good listening skills and solid professional ethics. Strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously are a must.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the partners, management team and account executives and other staff.
  • Must be able to work in the office environment and around other people.
  • Has ability to perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with other staff members and general public. 
  • Some travel to other firm locations is required.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and to adapt to a changing environment.
