Job Summary
The President & CEO is responsible for the leadership of the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce as well as the Ardmore Development Authority and Ardmore Tourism Authority. The Ardmore Development Authority and Ardmore Tourism Authority are public trusts of the City of Ardmore.
Under the general direction of the Board of Directors, the President & CEO creates and implements plans to achieve the goals and objectives of each entity as set forth by the Board. This individual provides leadership in the development of the organizations, facilitation of community planning, acquisition of resources, management of staff and evaluation of organizational efficiency.
The President & CEO spearheads economic development activities to enrich the community and is responsible for the successful execution of programs to achieve the goals established by the development and tourism authorities, as well as the oversight and operations of Ardmore Industrial Airpark and Convention Center. This individual is responsible for upholding the organizations’ bylaws, government regulations, and policies established by the Board. 

Essential Functions
  • Promote and maintain a positive business environment for both new and existing businesses. With cooperation with staff, will meet with members of the business community regularly. 
  • Enable Ardmore’s economy to grow through new job creation by both recruiting new business and enabling existing businesses to expand and remain in the Ardmore area.  This will be done by using state incentive programs, as well as new and existing local incentive programs.
  • Coordinate and initiate activities to improve community development and quality of life.
  • Identify opportunities for community and regional economic development to develop sectors, projects, and initiatives.
  • Effectively utilize the resources, both financial and personnel to advance the interest of the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce, Ardmore Development Authority and Ardmore Tourism Authority, including oversight of staff and budget.
  • Oversee the finances and fiscal reporting (coordinating with the accountant or the CPA) to consistently keep the board and committee chairs informed with accurate and timely information per approved policy. Develop and administer budgets to achieve the goals outlined in the annual plan.
  • Act as a liaison for the entities with professional organizations, such as the State Chamber, economic development, and tourism groups.
  • Provide operational support for contracted economic development activities and leadership for tourism activities.
  • Direct staff in preparing board meeting agenda, minutes, records, financials, and necessary communications.
  • Establish credibility across each organization and with the Board of Trustees as an effective developer of solutions to existing and future business challenges.
  • Maintain positive, productive relationships with the City of Ardmore and the community.
  • Responsible for the development, execution, and implementation of marketing initiatives, public relations, and community and regional events that promote tourism in Ardmore and Southern Oklahoma.
  • Attend and participate in relevant local, state, and national economic development and tourism organization meetings.
  • Prepare, or direct preparation of, official publications of the Development and Tourism Authorities and the Chamber of Commerce including promotional literature, newsletters, website updates, social media updates, and newspaper articles.
  • Manage the internal and external operations, website services, and technology needs to maintain efficient and effective business practices for supporting quality services.
  • Perform various other duties that may be assigned by the Board of Trustees to assure smooth, efficient operations.

Ardmore Development Authority
  • Communicate and work effectively with the Board of Trustees through regularly scheduled board meetings and any other means deemed necessary.
  • Facilitate community and economic development planning to identify and establish economic development opportunities.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance.
  • Participate in the development of the corporation’s plans and programs as a strategic partner as well as providing industrial park operational oversight.
Ardmore Chamber of Commerce
  • Guided by Ardmore Vision 2025, develop and implement the Program of Work as adopted by the Chamber Board of Directors.
  • Promote and champion the cause of education; this function involves education at all levels.
  • Maintain an aggressive legislative program that improves the business climate.
  • Deliver programs and activities that increase Chamber membership and add measurable value to membership investment.
Events and Program Responsibilities
  • Help prepare, plan, attend and participate in Chamber-sponsored events and functions.
  • Work with the Board in identifying non-dues revenue sources for the Chamber.
Financial Responsibilities
  • Oversee preparation of checks with proper documentation (invoices) and authorization.
  • Prepare and send membership dues statements and oversee the collection of dues.
  • Oversee collection of other payments due to the Chamber in conjunction with its activities.
Ardmore Tourism Authority
  • Oversight of the operations of the Ardmore Convention Center to include marketing, policies, administrative responsibilities.
  • Management of advertisement and marketing plans to achieve community tourism goals.
  • Assist in the creation of annual tourism programming with the Board of Trustees.
  • Coordination of activities with the City of Ardmore Parks and Recreation, Hardy Murphy Coliseum and Main Street to maximize the impact of tourism activities.
Qualifications
  • Strong background in economic development
  • Executive and management experience with demonstrated leadership skills
  • Experience working with boards & public trusts
  • Experience working with/in trade association/nonprofit organizations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Marketing skills with the ability to sell
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Ability to prioritize for maximum productivity while managing multiple tasks
  • Executive and management experience with demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • 15 years experience in economic development, organizational management, or nonprofit leadership
