Job Title: Metal Fabrication Operator Employment Status: Full-time (temporary with potential for permanent placement). Our client is willing to train the right candidate for this position!

Job Summary: The Metal Fabrication Operator is responsible for safely operating machinery to cut and fabricate metal parts according to specifications, maintaining equipment, and assisting with deliveries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate various machines such as lasers, waterjets, shears, and saws in accordance with safety standards.
  • Prepare machines with appropriate fixtures and accessories for production.
  • Produce metal work pieces to meet quality and efficiency standards.
  • Safely handle materials using equipment like overhead cranes, forklifts, etc.
  • Load and unload metal blanks or work pieces onto/from tables.
  • Interpret job instructions and drawings to ensure proper setup and production.
  • Use precision measurement devices to check dimensions of finished work pieces.
  • Document information accurately on job travelers.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to address quality and productivity issues.
  • Organize and stage parts for the next work center.
  • Pack and ship completed orders.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Be available for overtime as needed.
  • Provide support to other areas of the shop and complete additional tasks as assigned.

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related industry, particularly with CNC machinery.
  • OSHA safety training and forklift certification.

Basic Requirements:

  • Basic mechanical knowledge and computer skills.
  • Proficiency in English language.
  • Mathematical skills including decimals, percentages, and fractions (knowledge of geometry and trigonometry is a plus).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and use measuring tools.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • This role involves strenuous physical activity and may be conducted in a noisy environment.
  • Must be capable of lifting approximately 55 pounds and handling equipment and tools repetitively.
  • Work may be performed in various weather conditions.
  • Good physical health and stamina are required.
  • Safety precautions must be followed at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • May be exposed to hazardous substances; precautions must be taken to protect oneself.
