Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist is responsible for communicating information through verbal, written and electronic media to convey key strategic messages for the organization. Additional responsibilities include: coordinating, planning, and executing strategic engagements, and developing written materials and verbal presentations to prepare senior leaders for strategic engagements.  Ability to form, administer and coordinate all aspects of marketing functions, strategies, objectives and initiatives. Implement marketing strategies to fulfill objectives and organizational branding. Coordinate the marketing function to enable execution of strategies in demographic groups and products. Coordinate, monitor, and report key marketing metrics against goals. Support, coordinate and organize overall marketing objectives and report metrics and brief Senior Leaders.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related communications field such as marketing, journalism, or public affairs; two years of experience may be substituted for one year of education requirements
  • An active DoD Secret clearance
  • Familiarity with military public affairs, marketing and/or military strategic communications
  • Demonstrated experience writing, editing, and proofreading publicly releasable articles consistent with AP style
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and editing written correspondence, talking points, white papers, ensuring proper use of English grammar, spelling and punctuation for Senior Leaders
  • Experience executing brand image of the organization
  • Experience executing the creation, issuance, and delivery of marketing materials including: websites, social media sites, graphics, exhibit properties, advertising, and promotional programs
  • Experience in arranging and conducting interviews with subject matter experts for publication to include media press releases
  • Excellent verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexible and positive attitude in the face of challenges and ambiguity
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize important, competing tasks and information
  • Accountability for results and deadlines
  • Ability to take the initiative on customer support

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc)
  • Must have a current driver's license.
  • Ability to Travel: 10%
